Gordon, Hortense

A founding member of the Painters Eleven, Hortense Gordon was a key figure in introducing modern art to Canada. Her aesthetic evolved from textured Post-Impressionism toward dynamic abstraction. Her style is characterized by a bold exploration of form, color, and space, favoring compositions where movement and visual balance take precedence over representation.
